In the book Macbeth we have talked a lot about fate. The witches act as fortune tellers in telling what us whats to come, and all the characters become effected by them. In the beginning they tell Macbeth and his friend Banquo what their lives will soon be like. Macbeth becomes greedy and starts to abuse his knowledge of his future. They both try to stop parts of what the witches told them, but despise their efforts the fortune always comes true. This is all hand in hand with the big idea of fate.
Even though Macbeth and the other important characters in the book try to change the events that the witches predict to come its impossible, I believe this has to do with real life as well. Even though there aren't witches in life that tell us what our futures are going to be, I think that when we start out in life we have a plan in what is to happen in the future and it's not really changeable.

Important Macbeth Quote
Act 1. scene 3
Macbeth: So foul and fair a day I have not seen.
Macbeth: So foul and fair a day I have not seen.
- Banquo: How far is't call'd to Forres? What are these
So wither'd and so wild in their attire,
That look not like the inhabitants o' the earth,
And yet are on't? Live you? or are you aught
That man may question? You seem to understand me,
By each at once her chappy finger laying
Upon her skinny lips: you should be women,
And yet your beards forbid me to interpret
That you are so.
- Banquo: Good sir, why do you start; and seem to fear
Things that do sound so fair? I' the name of truth,
Are ye fantastical, or that indeed
Which outwardly ye show? My noble partner
You greet with present grace and great prediction
Of noble having and of royal hope,
That he seems rapt withal: to me you speak not.
If you can look into the seeds of time,
And say which grain will grow and which will not,
Speak then to me, who neither beg nor fear
Your favours nor your hate.
I think this quote was most likely the most important quote in the entire book. In this quote the three witches meet Macbeth and his friend Banquo and tell them their future. They tell Macbeth that he will be kings of multiple places and that Banquo won't be king, but he will have many sons and sons of sons that will be great kings. This whole "fortune telling" part is basically a summary of what is to come, and foreshadowing what events will happen later on.
This quote decides the plot of the story because it effects all of Macbeth's decisions later on. He wants to be king so he kills the current king and frames someone else. When he remembers Banquo's sons will be kings he kills Banquo and tries to kill his son. Thats all we have read so far but I have a feeling that since he keeps killing people to stay in power he will only continue, but it will have negative consequences on him in the future.

Spring Break
This spring break I went to Disney World with my family. We went for seven days and had a blast. We had a chance to visit all the parks and even a little shopping center called downtown Disney. Disney world is defiantly one of my favorite places in the world because it is filled with happiness and excitement. I love seeing everyones face before getting on the rides. My favorite part of the whole trip was meeting all the princesses. Ariel is my favorite Disney princess. When I met her my excitement was through the roof. She was sitting in her shell and my mom and I got to sit with her and talk to her for only about 10 minutes but it still was the best moment of the trip.
Another part of Disney that has always been my favorite thing is eating at the restaurants. My family and I got to eat at Belles castle and it was amazing. It was set up just like in the movie and it just really amazed me. The details were so on point and it was so cool. I had a blast during the trip and hope I can go back soon!

Statements
If you are in a position of power, you are happy.
I strongly disagree with this statement. I believe that some people that have power are happy. I also know that not everyone is. Money can't buy you happiness, and I think the same is true with power.
Women are more compassionate and less violent than men.
I neither disagree nor agree with this statement. Women are mothers and they are usually naturally compassionate. Men usually are the ones who fight in wars and get in fist fights with one another, so they are usually naturally more violent. The reason I disagree is because I can think of so many examples when women could be more violent than men. I also can think of a number of examples of when men are more compassionate then women.

100 Years
I analyzed the song 100 Years by Five for Fighting. The speaker of the song is someone who is looking back on their life. The speaker is remembering how he felt at the time and how what he was wishing for couldn't get better because he had 100 years to live. The occasion of the song is a life at its best at the age of the speaker. The purpose of the song is to show how fast life can pass you by. I also think the purpose is to show that however important you think something is at the time, most likely won't be that important in the long run. The subject is life of a boy who is 15 and is living life without a care. The tone is mellow and almost wise. Like the author is the speaker at an older age who is wise about his life now.
In the song there are multiple anaphoras of "for a moment". There also are assonances in "15 there's still time for you Time to buy and time to lose". I had trouble finding other techniques used.

Research Draft
In my draft I feel confident about my supporting facts. My facts are relevant and relate to my thesis overall. I think that the facts and examples I include will really get my argument across.
Although I feel good about those things, I worry some about how I am not so sure how people could really argue against my thesis. Its an arguable thesis but at the same time its not. I don't know how people could argue that survivors of Buchenwald concentration camp weren't left with emotional scars that would impact them for the rest of their lives.
My paper was a mix between easy and hard. Easy was deciding what subtopics to include in my paper. It also was easy to find the support to add to my subtopics. What was hard was making it all flow together between paragraphs. It also was kinda difficult to relate each subtopic back to my thesis in words. Also adding my citations was hard as well.
From the writing center or from Dr. D, I would like help on changing how my paragraphs together; make it not so choppy.

Sneaux week
During the days when we had no school because of the weather I honestly did nothing. I sat in my bed and watched Netflix and lots of movies. I also did the work we had to do but that didn't take too long, so I had a lot of time to watch all that tv. I finished one season of my show, but I only had like 5 episodes left of the Walking Dead anyway. I watched the movie Frozen and like 3 other old disney movies because those are my favorite. American Horror Story was another show I watched, but I only watched about 3 of those.
Besides watching movies and shows, I took naps. I took one nap a day. I would wake up at like 10:30 then go to sleep for a nap around 3:00, and finally go to bed around 11:00. Those three days I just rotted in my bed eating goldfish. I only went outside for a total of probably 10 minutes total.
On the third day I went to the EHS vs. CHS soccer game. That was really fun! It was the first time I had been out into the real world with people other than my family in 2 1/2 days. The little break was great and wish we could have more.

Explaining my NHD project to my sister:
The theme was rights and responsibilities. I almost immediately knew I wanted to do something with the Holocaust and concentration camps. After 5th grade I have always thought the topic World War II was really interesting. I narrowed the topic down to the lasting impressions the survivors had after their time in the camp Buchenwald. The survivors had lasting impressions because of what they experienced in the camp. They were put in Buchenwald because they believed something other than what the Nazis believed. After they were forced to be imprisoned, they were starved, forced to work, undergo medical experiments, and some just killed; Their human rights deprived. All of that just because they believed something different! In 1945 the prisoners took control of the camp by overpowering the officers. The prisoners that escaped had scarring memories. It affected them for the rest of their lives. What I learned specifically is that not only prisoners in Buchenwald were scarred. In 1945, just after the camp was taken over by the prisoners, the ally armies came in to liberate the camp. These soldiers in the ally armies were also greatly effected by the sights they saw. The events that happened in Buchenwald were so terrible that people that didn't even go through it, were effected for the rest of their life.
My topic is the neglected rights of the prisoners of Buchenwald concentration camp during World War II. My thesis is: Not only did the horrific experiences of Buchenwald impact the prisoners during their time in the camp, but left lasting impressions on the survivors. The survivors were so negatively impacted because of the torture they experienced in Buchenwald. They were forced to be imprisoned because their beliefs differed from the Nazis. After they were imprisoned they were forced to work, have medical experiments tested on them, or killed. All these things completely deprived them from their human rights. When the camp was overthrown by a prisoner resistance group and ally armies, the survivors left with lasting impressions from all the horrors they faced inside Buchenwald. Not only did the prisoners have emotional scars, but also soldiers that helped liberate them.

Research
I chose the Buchenwald concentration
camp because of the NHD’s theme rights and responsibilities. The prisoners of
the concentration camps and prisoners of war in WWII had absolutely no rights.
They were forced into labor camps, experimental camps, or death camps against
their will. They ended up at these camps because of what they believed.
Buchenwald was a labor camp. The
prisoners were asked to do labor or an immediate death. The ones that chose to work
worked mainly in factories. There were a lot more male prisoners and guards than
female prisoners. Later on the women were sent away to other camps or ghettos.
So many prisoners died at Buchenwald. An
estimate to the total number of deaths was about 56,545 people. Most people
died from diseases, starvation, or exhaustion. At least 1,000 Soviet Union
prisoners of war were shot in the head when they first arrived. This was an
example of how prisoners of war were treated worse than the actual concentration
camp prisoners. Even though Buchenwald was a labor camp, there were small
medical experiments they would conduct on the prisoners. The experiments the
guards and “doctors” would conduct on the inmates were awful. They would expose
them to poison and burns to see how much they could take until it became fatal.
The doctors also would put them in freezing water for multiple hours to see how
long the body could fight off hypothermia. All these experiments were held at
Buchenwald, and Buchenwald was just a labor camp.
Word Ward II was a horrible time to be
known as a Jew, but most people don’t know that Hitler looked down so many
other beliefs and religions upon. Even though this topic is so sad and gruesome
I can’t wait to learn more about how it all happened.

Later in Life
I ask my friends Claudia, Audrey, Ellie, and Sophie where they want to live after college and what they want their career to be.
Claudia said she wanted to be a children's Psychologists and live in Tennessee. Ellie said she wanted to be a doctor and live in Manhattan. Audrey said she wanted to be a Pediatrician and she doesn't know where she wants to live. And Sophie said she's not positive what she wants to be but maybe a dermatologist. She also would like to live in California.
Ellie's answer surprised me the most. She cringes at gross things about bodies and blood and stuff like that. I don't think she actually wants to be a doctor, she just likes Grey's Anatomy. I also think its surprising how she wants to live in Manhattan because she always talks about sending her kids to Episcopal. I don't think she will stick to both of her answers,
